For the December 6, 2022 runoff election in Georgia

  • All voters must be registered to cast a ballot.

Voting is an important way to promote health for yourself and your community. When you vote, you exercise your voice on decisions that have a big impact on your health and the health of your family and neighbors, like access to transportation, funding for health care, and clean water and air.

There are many options for healthy voting. Voting by mail is a good option because it lets you maintain physical distance and helps reduce crowding on Election Day. Early voting in person is another option that lets you choose when you cast your ballot in advance of Election Day. But however you vote this year, you can do it in a way that protects and promotes your health.

Voting by mail is a healthy option because you vote at home. If you go out at all, it's only to mail or drop off your ballot.

December 6, 2022 by 7:00 pm. All ballots must be delivered to the elections office by this time. Postmarks don't count! 

Given postal delivery times, all voters are encouraged to vote in-person early or on Election Day.

How to get your ballot

All registered voters can request an absentee ballot.

The deadline to request a ballot is November 28, 2022.

You can:

  • Request a ballot online.
  • Be sure to choose the elections for which you want an absentee ballot.
  • Download, print, and mail a request form.
  • Request an absentee ballot on the state voter registration form.
  • Call or visit your local elections office.

Remember:

  • A state driver’s license or ID number, or a copy of photo ID is required with your request form.
  • A state driver’s license, non-driver ID, or tribal ID number is required with your request form.
  • You must sign the form in ink.

How to return your ballot

Absentee ballots must be returned by Election Day, November 8, at 7:00pm.

Drop it off in person:

  • At your elections office.
  • At a secure ballot drop-off location.

Mail it:

  • Put it in your own mailbox for the mail carrier to collect.
  • Put it in a Post Office blue mailbox.
  • Take it to a post office.

  • Be sure to sign the declaration on the return envelope.

  • Seal inner and outer envelopes.

  • Closely follow all instructions to ensure your ballot is counted.

  • Put enough postage on the envelope.

  • Return your ballot promptly. Postmarks don't count!
